LG has quietly thrown its hat into the mobile payment ring with the announcement of LG Pay.

With Apple Pay, Android Pay, and Samsung Pay all introduced and starting to make headway (to different levels), you may think that there are scant room for an additional mobile payment pretender.

LG would seem to disagree, because it just introduced its very own platform. It’s known as, rather predictably, LG Pay.

Unlike its aforementioned rivals, there is no glossy launch event for LG Pay. Rather, LG introduced this news using a rather discrete Facebook publish.

“It’s official!” reads the publish. “We’ve partnered with Shinhan Card and KB Kookmin Card to organize for that launch of LG Pay.”

And that is about this, in addtion picture of LG Chief executive officer Juno Cho standing in the center of his opposite figures at Shinan Card and KB Kookmin Card.

As you may have suspected, the partners LG has aligned with for that launch of LG Pay are a couple of South Korean banks. This means that LG Pay, like Samsung Pay before it, will launch in the native market first.

There is no news on the wider rollout for LG Pay, but an LG representative did tell TechCrunch that the organization “may have more particulars within the coming days.”

Now you ask , whether a broader rollout of LG Pay is sensible when LG includes a relatively small share from the smartphone market outdoors of their home territory.
